Discover the anatomy of diamonds and the quality of the cut.
Clarity
Diamond clarity is the quality of diamonds that refers to the existence and visual appearance of a diamond’s internal features, called inclusions, and surface defects, called imperfections. … However, large clouds can affect a diamond’s ability to transmit and diffuse light.
Cut
The cut of a diamond is a style or design guide used to shape a diamond for polishing just like a brilliant cut. Cutting does not refer to the shape (pear, oval), but to the symmetry, proportions and polish of a diamond.
Color
What is the color of a diamond? The color of a diamond refers to its degree of clarity or yellow. In general, higher quality diamonds are completely colorless, while lower quality diamonds can often have a slight yellow tint.
Carat
Within each carat range, diamonds have an average size in millimeters. Well-cut round diamonds have less depth than well-cut fancy shaped diamonds (diamonds other than round). A 1 ct round diamond will have a length/width of ~6.40 mm, while a 1 ct princess diamond will measure ~5.50 mm.
